Moving to Arizona in 1965 at age 9 with his family. Jay attended Alhambra High School where he played basketball all 4 years. A man with many talents and skills. Worked many different jobs including selling pagers back in the day to climbing and building cell towers and later on ended with becoming a maintenance tech for Mark Taylor Properties.
He loved to tinker and build anything out of wood. He rewatched “Back to the Future” anytime it was on TV even if that meant multiple day marathons. His grandson was his favorite person and best little bud ever.
Jay will always be remembered for his “Jay-isums”, his very random facts and sometimes useless information but most of all who he was to each of us.
He will be missed.
Jay is survived by his companion Lori “Shelton” Koehler, daughter Brittany Koehler (Derek O’Connell), his grandson Dustin “DOC” O’Connell, older brother Joe Burnside and wife Cece, nephew Nate Burnside, and his older sister Jeb Burnside (Kathy Covey). He was preceded in death by his oldest brother Jim Burnside.
