

Joseph A. Maes, CMSgt, USAF (retired), a WW II veteran, passed in peace on July 10, in Glendale, AZ. Born Sept 17, 1926 in Calcite, CO, he was proud to have been raised in Silverton, CO. He made Phoenix his home upon retiring from the USAF after 30 years of dedicated service. He is survived by Inez Maes, his wife of 30 years, his daughters (from first wife Melba Inez) Allora Coffland (Calvin), Carol McDonough (John); step-daughter Bobbie Montoya; grandchildren Shannon, Keith, Vincent, Breana, Allison, Brandi & Jennifer; step-grandchildren John Jr & Robert; and 7 great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his daughter Kathleen Roane, mother Rosave, father Ambrosio, siblings Leo, Frances, Richie, Pauline, Elmer (Sonny), Elizabeth Jean & Joseph Ambrose Jr, and step-son John Montoya Sr. In 1989 he proudly earned his BA. Besides his family, his interests included researching his genealogy, RV traveling, was an avid fan of the Phoenix Suns & Arizona Cardinals, and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul. He was proud of his Spanish heritage. Visitation will be on Tuesday July14th, 5pm.,Rosary 6:30pm at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary located at 7924 N. 59th Ave in Glendale, Az. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday July 15th,10am., at Saint Helen Catholic Church, located at 5510 W. Cholla St. Glendale, Az. Graveside service will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery located at 23029 N. Cave Creek road.
