

Julio Nino Salinas Sr., 94, of Phoenix, Arizona entered into heaven on December 14, 2020 just days before his 95th birthday. Julio was born in Edinburg, Texas to Geraldo and Benita (Nino) Salinas on December 20, 1925, the second of ten children.
Julio went into the Navy just after he got out of school. Following his honorable discharge, he went to school to study bookkeeping; a career he never did. Julio found his passion is becoming a chef. He worked at many high end restaurants in Phoenix that were referred to as “The Big 4 restaurants”. Julio had learned so much that he was tasked with instructing employees in all areas of the business. In all of his years of work Julio never missed a day of work.
Julio met his love, Esperanza “Hope” and they were married in 1943 and had six children.
Julio loved carpentry. Julio found his love for carpentry while watching his dad as a child. When he got older he spent time building household items, such as benches, toy boxes, and cabinets. He liked to watch baseball and his favorite team Diamond Backs.
Julio leaves behind his children- Julio N Salinas Jr, Alicia Saballa, Juanita “Janie” (Angel) Ortega, Daniel “Danny” (Lauren) Salinas, and Ernesto “Ernie” (Violet) Salinas; nineteen grandchildren and countless great grandchildren, and many many other close family and friends.
Preceded by spouse Esperanza Z. “Hope” Salinas in 2011 and daughter Mary (Salinas) Nunez who passed in 1998.
Julio will be remembered as the kindest and most patient loving man, with a lively personality.
