Kimberly Renee Felkins Grossenbacher

From her first moments of life, Kim was a firecracker. In high school one of Kim’s favorite hobbies was softball, an interest she kept with her throughout the rest of her life. Soon enough, she met her soon-to-be husband and partner of 23 years, Terry Grossenbacher. When Terry moved to North Carolina to pursue a Nascar career, Kim followed him. The two shared stories and fun anecdotes with their friends about how their time in North Carolina was the best times of their lives.

Three years after the beginning of their relationship Kimberly gave birth to her first daughter, Amber Grossenbacher. In Amber’s early years she was the spitting image of her mother. Less than three years after Amber’s birth, Kim successfully gave birth to her second daughter Hanna Grossenbacher- this child being the spitting image of her father. As Amber and Hanna began to grow and mature, Kim found a career path that she truly fell in love with. She started working at grade schools with children.

Kim worked with children- primarily special needs- for ten years and never once got tired of it. The students’ bright innocence and grandeur for the world made Kimberly smile and laugh, which was the light for some of those student’s days. When she would walk into her workplace and hear the children shout ‘Miss Kim’ would melt her heart. If there was anything she could return to doing, it would be working with those children again. Kim changed those kids lives, and that’s something she never truly grasped in life.

Sadly, her health began to deteriorate faster than anyone had ever anticipated. Being diagnosed with Lupus and Fibromyalgia was only the start of her breaking point. The additions of COPD and Emphysema in her last days were the straw that broke the camel’s back. On April 19th, 2019 Kimberly Felkins-Grossenbacher passed away. She is survived by her parents, her husband, and her children. Many people truly loved Kim, and that love will not go away anytime soon.
