Leonard Leon Barnett Jr., 75 of Glendale, Arizona passed away on March 25th, 2024. He was born on October 2nd, 1948 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to the late Leonard Leon Barnett Sr. and Virginia Naomi Godwin.
Barney is survived by his wife Coleen Barnett, his children Lisa (Steve) Kunz, and Scott (Telesha) Barnett, as well as his grandchildren, Alexander Philips, Bjorn Philips, Christoff Philips and Danica Philips. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Maureen (Dan) Baker and brother-in-law John (Arlene) Murphy. He will also be missed by his cat, Buddy.
Barney is preceded in death by both of his parents, as well as his brother Walter Barnett and his sister Lynda Dyann Love.
Barney was proud to serve with the United States Air Force for 20 years, including two tours in Vietnam, the second tour was on the AC-119 gunship. His dedication and service also earned him many awards and praises, most notably the Purple Heart Award and the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal. After his time in active duty, he continued his commitment to the Air Force by working as an Aircraft Systems and Munitions Technician for 20 Years. He was a supporter of his fellow veterans and also loved animals. And he supported Arizona Animal Welfare League along with many others.
Family and friends are invited to attend the graveside service at Resthaven Park Cemetery on Wednesday, April 3rd at 2:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Arizona Animal Welfare League in Leonard's name would be greatly appreciated.
