My sweetest friend, Maria....I miss you you so very much, my heart is crying! Our friendship was instant, deep & precious....like none either of us had experienced! Our late night chats & giggles got us both in trouble & I cherish & miss them! I’m sure you are teaching the Angels in Heaven a thing or two, because you surely were an Angel here on Earth! I’m sorry we didn’t get to do the many things we had planned! I miss you & I love you & I will always cherish our “octopi” time!

I was so sorry to hear that Maria had passed last week. I worked with her at Atkinson for 10 years and remember many hallway conversations, team meetings and happy hours with "Merlino". My thoughts are with her family during this time, and my hope is that you will know how many people loved and were touched by Maria as a friend, colleague and educator. I know  I was.

Oh Maria, I will forever remember our casino outings and the fun we had!!  I will miss your text messages and all the funny things you sent.  You always made me smile.  I know your mom welcomed you with open arms and you are again with her.   I will miss our bingo days and the sharing of our winnings!  You will be forever missed my friend.  Until we meet again.....Love ya.

Maria was a wonderful, staunch colleague. She was a great teacher, and a positive influence on thousands of students. I wish that she had been blessed with more years of her well earned retirement.




I had the pleasure of supervising  Maria for many years as Principal at Atkinson. She was a passionate teacher who cared tremendously about the students she taught. She wanted each and every one of them to leave middle school well prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.  She was kind, smart, funny and most of all, a great educator. She positively influenced thousands during her time at ATK. Rest In Peace Maria! 

Maria was always pleasant to work with and would do anything to help out her colleagues.   Away from work, she was the same, a good friend and a generous person who gave anyone an ear if you asked for it.  I worked side-by-side with her for a few years; she will be missed--Scuba 

Maria we can't believe you are gone. I remember when we first met you when we lived next door to you.  We remember the Laughlin run and the fun times we had in Rocky Point with you and Dave.  You will be missed that's for sure.  Rest in Peace Maria.  We love you.

Maria, you left us to be in a better place. We know you were hurting, and also know you didn't want to leave, however you are in our hearts and thoughts, you really haven't gone far. And we all thought your Phone purse was a great idea. We know you will be watching over us, smiling down on us, and waiting in heaven when each of us go home. We shall meet again.

Oh Maria how you will be missed. I will never forget our golfing outings as you always made it a picnic when we got to the back 9 you always had  sandwiches and chips.  The best day ever is when we where playing Perioa Pines and was on the green on hole number 4 and you was yelling that you couldn't  find your putter and along you was holding it in your right hand.  There are so many good memories and laughs.  Rest In Peace and you will never be forgotten.  In are hearts forever   

Maria’s laugh was contagious and brought out the best in all of us.  Her passion for life and her love for David, Jack, Jenny, Molly and Sid was evident.  It has been devastating that she’s gone.  As a family we are going to miss her and I still can’t wrap my arms around the fact that she’s gone.  The only thing that brings me some comfort is she was greeted in heaven by Beanie, Timothy, Joshua & Adam who loved her unconditionally.  She missed them a lot.  Hugs & prayers always. -Carrie

Maria will be missed! She was genuine and generous. She always had time to listen and a comforting word. She new how to live and loved to have a good time. Words can't express how sad we are about her passing. We'll be forever grateful for her friendship. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
