

Mary Howlett Marble, a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on February 6, 1938, in Murray, Utah, to E. Golden and Ada Howlett, Mary’s life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to family and faith.
Mary grew up in Draper, Utah, and graduated from Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah. She went on to earn a degree from Brigham Young University, where her love for music flourished. Her passion for teaching and music led her to become an elementary school music teacher.
Mary served as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Texas from June of 1960 to January of 1962. Her deep faith and service to others were hallmarks of her life.
On December 20, 1969, Mary married James Jules Marble, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage until his passing on May 10, 2021. Together, they adopted and raised three children: Jennifer, Russell, and Daniel.
Music was Mary’s true calling and lifelong passion. She served as the official director for numerous church music programs and was the creative force behind hundreds of family musicals and skits. An accomplished pianist and organist, Mary was frequently sought out as an accompanist and choir director, bringing joy and harmony to every performance.
Mary is survived by her daughter Jennifer and son-in-law James Busselle, son Russell and daughter-in-law Kanani Marble, ten grandchildren—Stillman, Addison and her husband Thomas, Parker, Kiley and her husband Carter, Coleman, Ty, Sawyer, Payton, Jessey, and Maggie—and great-grandson Bex. She is also survived by her siblings Joyce Broderick, Glen Howlett, and Lois Scott, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son Daniel and siblings Bryce Howlett, Elaine Pucket, and Grant Howlett.
Mary's life was enriched by her deep love for family, faith, service, and the beauty of nature. She delighted in the outdoors and could identify nearly every bird, flower, and cactus she encountered on her hikes, sharing her knowledge with enthusiasm. Her creativity knew no bounds. She expressed herself through writing music, poems, and short stories, as well as through the art of quilting. These creations leave behind a legacy of love and imagination. Above all, Mary found her greatest joy in serving her family, a testament to her generous and nurturing spirit.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 10877 N. 77th Avenue, Peoria, AZ 85345. A Dedication of Grave will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 10:00 am at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 2929 East Pinnacle Peak Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85024.
Mary’s legacy of love, music, and faith will continue to resonate in the lives of those she touched.
