Michael was devoted to his faith and began his high school years at a seminary in California. God had different plans for him, and he later attended Bourgade Catholic High School where he met the love of his life, Susie. They went on to have two children who brought them so much love and joy.
Michael was a strong pillar in his family as well as within the community. He was widely known as a faithful, good man who brought comfort to others in his calming presence. He dedicated 40 years of his life to the United States Postal Service, following in his father’s footsteps. Michael also dedicated his free time to volunteering at the church. It brought him so much joy teaching catechism, and it gave him the opportunity to stir up trouble as he goofed around with the kids. He touched the lives of everyone he met- he knew no strangers. He gladly served as the family’s handyman, personal comedian, and chauffeur; but most of all, he was their rock. “Mikey”, Michael, “Daddio”, and “Pops” loved sunsets, boat rides, fishing, comics, and crossword puzzles. Everyone who knew Mike also knew he was an avid Arizona sports fan (Go Cards!). His love for others was evident in the way he made people feel seen and appreciated. He always wanted to make people smile, so you most likely have heard him tell a joke, or were a victim of one of his pranks. There is no doubt you could always count on him to show up to every game, every celebration, and every challenging time with a smile and a helping hand. His love for his family was rooted in Christ, and he taught us to be more like Jesus every single day. We were all so lucky!
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert.
Michael is survived by his wife of 49 years, Susan, his mother, Flora, his daughter Aimee (Hailee), his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Julie (Alexandra, Savannah, Gracie, and Michael), as well as his four sisters, Cathy and Bob Doerr (Jeanette and Jason), Shelly Walsh (Stacy, Tom, and Nick), Therese Walsh, and Colette Walsh.
