Pauline Karas McBroom

Pauline Karas McBroom of Glendale, AZ passed away on September 7, 2023, from lung cancer. One of seven children, she was born on December 26, 1935, in Hammond, Indiana, to the late Christos and Mary Karas.

Pauline is survived by five children Mari Mendick, Georgia Rappaport, Alicia Mackey, Bob Mackey & Dan Mackey, two siblings Tom (Maureen) Karas & Christine Karas, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a multitude of nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband John McBroom, she was preceded in death by daughter Helen Drake and her sisters Helen, Georgia, Diane, and Freida.

Pauline was patriotic but fiercely proud of her Greek heritage. She was the life of the party, incredibly funny, and the person everyone wanted as their mother. She was very handy and loved books, keno, John Wayne, Tom Jones, making pies, road trips, Vegas, and breakfast at Ronnie’s.

Pauline graduated from West High where she excelled in business studies. She was a hardworking and loyal employee working many wonderful jobs at the Wrigley Company, Mackey Plumbing, Classic Builders, U.S. Elevator, and American Express. Pauline was a primary contact at American Express for those who died in the towers and was deeply affected by 9/11 until she passed.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 12-1 PM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale. AZ 85301. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm with burial to follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery.
