Peter Joseph Balland

On Monday January 12, 2015, Peter Joseph Balland left this earth to be with our Mother who passed away 2 years ago. Dad was born in Mora New Mexico, March 25, 1922, he was 92 years old. He was married to our Mother July 3, 1950. They were married 62 years. Together they raised a family of 10 children. Peter (Pete) resided in his early life in Mora, New Mexico and San Diego California before spending 3 years as a veteran of WWII. After the war, he returned to live in Springer and then Manero, New Mexico. After their marriage their new family moved to Anchorage, Alaska and resided there for 15 years. In November 1966 the now greatly expanded family moved to Phoenix, AZ where he worked for Chevron Oil Company as a gasoline delivery driver.

Throughout his lifetime Peter was a dedicated member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He is survived by his 10 children and their spouses, David Thomas Balland of Homer, AK. There will be a public visitation and Rosary at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary 7924 N. 59th Ave. Glendale AZ (623)937-9297 from 6:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday January 16 followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 17, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church 3140 N. 51st Ave. Phoenix AZ. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery 10045 West Thomas Road Avondale, AZ (623) 478-7600. Reception to follow.
