

Reg attended Pelham High School in Fenwick, Ontario graduating in 1955. He then continued on to further his education at the Ryerson Polytechnic Institute in Toronto Canada, completing a technical degree in electronics. He fulfilled his dream of being an engineer with a Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering from Arizona State University in 1974.
Reg worked in the aerospace industry for most of his career for prestigious companies such as CAE, Sperry, and Motorola. Later he worked in the industry of his personal passion, the outdoors, at Katz Knives with a sales territory that included Arizona to Montana and all the states on the west coast. He finished his working career at Cabelas.
In 1976, he married Phyllis LaChapell in Phoenix, Arizona.
Reg was a member of the NRA, the Motorola Pistol Club, and supported organizations that ensured the wellbeing of wildlife and their habitats so hunting, fishing and the outdoors could be enjoyed by future generations.
Reg was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis in 2005.
He is survived by his stepdaughter Deborah Bohmont, (John) step granddaughter Heather Langdon (Laughlin), step great grandson Logan; Reg’s sister Sandra Barnhart, deceased (husband Clyde); niece Pam Egan (Ed) and children Tess and Jackson; niece Paula Buck (Jay) and children Madison and Lincoln; nephew Joel Barnhart (Sabrina) and son Tristan; nephew Jayson Barnhart (Jessica) and children Sloane and Collins. His brother Wayne Smith (Janet); step nephew Tony Grosso (Laura) and children Dominic and Franco, step nephew Chris Grosso (April).
Carolyn Culp his companion and consolation partner for the last 10 years; and many other loving family and friends.
A Visitation will be held in Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 9:30am at Chapel of the Chimes Morturary, 7924 N.59th Ave, Glendale, Arizona. Funeral Service will follow at 10am. Committal will be at Resthaven Park Cemetery 6450 W. Northern Ave Glendale, Arizona at 11:30am.
