

He is now in heaven with his wife, Deloris, and daughter’s Vicky Medlyn and Ginny McDaniel. We know he was welcomed with open arms by all his family that had passed before him. He is with the Angels!
Richard is survived by his sister in Michigan, Lucille Trombley, and his daughters, Linda J. Black and Deborah L. Fassel. Not to be left out are his 8 grandkids, 22 great grandkids and 1 great great grandchild.
Richard is a World War II Veteran; he was a Staff Sergeant in the Army. Richard served as a tank commander under General Patton in the Battle of the Bulge. He earned many prestigious medals and ribbons such as 1 Service stripe, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater ribbon with 2 bronze stars and 1 overseas service bar. He was so proud to serve his country. He was honored as a World War II veteran by going on an Honor Flight to Washington DC to visit the war memorials and, invited by Gary Sinise’s foundation, Soring Valor, to honor WWII vets in Louisiana.
Richard has led a fantastic life and will surely be missed. God Bless you!
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 19th at 9:00 a.m. at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 West Northern Ave., Glendale, Arizona.
