She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Christine (Sean) Gauthier and great-granddaughter Madilyn Grace Bemmerl.
She also leaves behind a lifetime of many special friends. Linda Flores, Steve (her popsicle friend), Angel, Fran & Jeff, Leroy, and his wife Charlie, and Emily. Plus so many of the friends and staff she met at both Providence Place and Christian Care assisted living communities over so many of these last years of her life.
Besides having been a mother, grandmother, and friend to many, Roberta had also been an Avon representative for 40 years. She had established a very large clientele and provided products and services to many of us over the years. She had also been a Fry’s courtesy greeter for over 5 years. She was a member of the Salvation Army Women’s Home League for many years as well, you could find her ringing a bell helping collect donations, as well helping with their Christmas Angel program. She made many lifelong friends in all of these endeavors.
One of Roberta's favorite passions was traveling. She had enjoyed going on many different cruises to different places all over the world. One special trip she went on was to Norway with her sister Bev, brother-in-law Marcus, and her niece Cheryl Hanson. She also traveled extensively throughout all of Arizona in particular one very eventful trip with her sister Patty and brother-in-law Doug when they came down from Wisconsin to visit her. Over the years she had many trips back to Wisconsin to visit family.
Roberta had many hobbies as well, she enjoyed making crafts, especially doing plastic needlepoint. She had enough yarn to start her own yarn shop! During the last 5 years, my mom really looked forward to our weekly visit, and I would bring her a Happy Meal from Mcdonald's, she would collect the toys for a display in her room or give them as gifts to her great-grandkids Ariel and Dominic. Sometimes she would want to Taco Bell for a change of pace.
“Mom I’m sure you’ll find the golden arches once you’ve greeted and said hello to all those that have been waiting for you in heaven”, I will miss you always.
A viewing for Roberta will be held Monday, March 4, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 West Northern Ave, Glendale, Arizona 85301, followed by funeral services at 7:00 PM.
