Samuel Terry Medina

Samuel Terry Medina, 63, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2021 in Glendale, Arizona. With dignity, he joined his parents Benjamin Joseph Medina and Dolores Sequeda Medina, as well as his big sister Patricia Marie.

Sam was born in Adrian, Michigan on Dec 30, 1957 where he established lifelong friendships. He graduated high school and briefly attended Ferris State. Moving to Arizona in the '80s, Sam worked at the foundry and eventually moved on to work at Price Club/Costco Wholesale. Sam's Costco career spanned 30 + years and he continued to make friendships there and built a reputation as hard working and a skilled merchant. In 1984 Sam married Carolyn and they had three children: Mercedes, Mallory and Sammy. He raised his kids with his love of music, cooking and sports. In the past 8 years, Sam became a devoted grandfather and he spent as much time as he could with his grandkids. Most recently, Lainey was born 8 weeks ago. Lainey and “Papa” soaked up many cuddles before he left us.

Sam is survived by three beloved children: Mercedes (Justen) Bethay, Mallory (Cole) and Samuel Michael Medina, his ex-wife and friend for life Carolyn Medina, four grandchildren: Aaron, Selah, Wyatt and Lainey, siblings: Tom (Liz) Medina, Marion (Ken) Gradeless, Benjamin Medina, Tony Medina (Annamarie), Gary Medina, James Medina, Marsha Medina, as well as many loving nieces and nephew, great- nieces and great-nephews.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 9:00 AM at West Resthaven Funeral Home (6450 W. Northern Ave. Glendale, AZ 85301) with a breakfast reception to follow. As per his wishes, his body was cremated and a private inurnment will be scheduled at a later time.
