Shawn C. Akins

JUNE 25,1966 - DECEMBER 29,2024

Shawn Christopher Akins was born on June 25,1966 in Merced, California. He was the only child born to the union of Marshall Lloyd Akins and Martha (nee Wiggins) Akins.

Shawn was a cute, energetic, precocious child with an artistic side. He was an amazing young artist who loved to draw and color freehand beautiful pictures of cars and motorcycles; he was also an avid collector of model cars and trucks. Shawn enjoyed playing both Pop Warner football and Pop Warner baseball in his youth.

Shawn attended Maryvale High School in Phoenix, AZ where he played football and continued enjoying sports. He graduated from Maryvale in 1984. He was employed with the Arizona Brewing Company and worked in landscaping. He enjoyed working with his hands.

Shawn is survived by his mother, Martha Akins, Phoenix, AZ; son, Christopher M. Akins, Phoenix, AZ; grandson, Hakeem C. Akins, Phoenix, AZ; granddaughter, Audrina Akins, Phoenix, AZ; aunts Marche Clarke, Greensboro, NC, and aunt Brenda Clarke, MD.

Shawn was a warm, kind man with a gentle spirit. He was always available to help his neighbors with odd jobs around their homes and would check on them regularly to make sure they were doing well. He was loved by his family and friends. He will be missed.

A memorial service will be held in Shawn’s honor on January 31, 2025 at 11:00am at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924, North 59th Avenue, Glendale, AZ. A gathering of family and friends will be held at his mother’s home located at 2917 North 89th Drive, Phoenix, AZ. 85037.
