Our Mother, Sherlyn Jeanette Jackson, 67, of Phoenix, AZ went on to be with the Lord on January 29,2022. Sherlyn was born on June 14, 1954 in Vernon, TX to the late Otis Piper and Bassie Bell Mack (Ross). She attended Taylor High School , graduating class of 1972. She furthered her education obtaining a certificate of completion as an optical technician, a field in which she flourished. She worked as an optical tech for many years, meeting many people along the way.
Her career as an optical technician led her to Texas. There she met her loving husband, our Dad, Clarence D. Jackson. They married July 21, 1984. As a military wife, She traveled the world with her husband and two daughters. Taking in the sights, foreign foods and collecting various items to commemorate her trips. She enjoyed gardening and could be found out in her garden for hours. Flowers or vegetables, she had the ability to grow it all almost effortlessly. She took pride in creating floral arrangements for the church or for anyone she felt needed them. Flowers made her smile. She was a die hard Cowboys fan, representing TEXAS as often as possible. Even if just $5, you could count on her calling to place a bet on her Cowboys. She was a phenomenal cook. Some of our fondest memories include large holiday meals and celebrations, her cooking and swatting our dad out of the kitchen for stealing samples of food. The laughter we would hear was contagious and we can still feel the joy, even in this moment. Speaking of laughter… Our Mother was high spirited. I mean REALLY high spirited. Good or Bad you were sure to get WHATEVER emotion to its fullest. From her dancing in the store at the checkout counter to her trademark “ Yededededeeeee” sound, you were sure to know she was in the building. Some of the best advice we have received to date has come from our mother. If not by word , by action. She was a living example of many things in this life, we just had to get older to appreciate it. Today we get it. Though life may feel as if it just fell apart, we realize her greatest achievement was us. She would often say “I love my girls and there aint nothing you can do about it”. So with pride I say….
Sherlyn Jeanette Jackson is survived by her Mother Bassie Bell Mack, loving husband of 36years, Clarence Daryl Jackson, her daughter An Jeanette Rochelle Conley-Jackson (Quontica) and Tiffany Nicole Benson (Bradley), her sister Judy Faye Bray, Amy Green, Elva Mae Piper, Debra Love, brothers, James Piper Sr.,Steven Mack, Emanuel Piper, Curwin Piper and a host of beautiful nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
