I am so thankful for the life that Mom lived. She was one of the best examples of Christ to me in all aspects of her life. She loved all people and served constantly to everyone around her. Mom was a great mother but she was also my friend. I enjoyed spending time with mom whenever I could. She taught me so many things that are just part of who I am. Mom was always a good listener and was there for me whenever I needed her. Anyone who knew Elaine was blessed to have her in their life.

I remember grandma telling a story of going to church as a family when they lived in Texas. She was about 12 years old. On one Sunday she said that some of the Decans came up to her and told her that this Sunday it was the young women's turn to pass the sacrament. Grandma was nervous and then went up to her mother, Grandma Champion, and told her what the Decans told her. Grandma Champion then sternly told her to sit right down and not to listen to those boys. 

Mom is and incredible person.  She put Christ first in her life and family fit right in.  She loved people and could talk to anyone.  I remember her being best friends with the grocery clerk by the end of our shopping trip.  I never knew how she could start a conversation with strangers, then end up being friends.  

Mom had a strong testimony of Christ and that he is her Savior.  Through the struggles with her cancer she would repeat the verse in Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

I remember family trips and family home evenings.  We travel Arizona and camped in the summers.  Each Monday night we would gather as a family for Family Night.  We would learn about the gospel or about life.  I remember a lesson on the family budget, that included Monopoly money and why we needed to wait for new shoes because of our budget.  I never remember going without.  Mom had a gift of making the money for the budget stretch. 

I have learned so much from my mom.  She will be remembered and not forgotten.  I look forward to seeing her again one day!

My favorite memory of Grandma Elaine is every time she and grandpa came down to Tucson to go camping they made time to go to the temple. I will always appreciate Grandma's strong testimony that she has. April 27th 2019 I was able to go through the temple to receive my endowment. After the session in the celestial room I was greeted by many of my family and friends. When Grandma Elaine came up to me she looked at me and told me that me going through the temple is one of the best birthday gifts I could give her.

Mom gave the best hugs and kisses. Whenever I talked with her I knew that I had her full attention. Even as a child she made time for each of us.  Even if I had to wait a while I knew that she would help me with whatever I needed.  She was awesome at proofreading any papers I wrote for school and even into college. 
I loved sitting by mom in the temple or in a RS meeting or any other setting you can think of and she would reach over and hold my hand and quietly squeeze it to let me know she loved me and was happy to be there, that was her way of saying how proud she was of each of us. 
One day mom and dad came to the temple specifically on a Wednesday morning even though Tuesday was their Temple day. You see, I served on Wednesdays. You can imagine the humbling experience that was for me. I love the example mom and dad set of attending the temple!


My mother was a wonderful person. She was a true disciple of Jesus Christ. She enjoyed serving others and helping were she could. 
It was hard to see my mother in so much pain. Grateful for the knowledge she is in heaven and free from all the pain. 
Mother had a strong love for family history and attending the temple. She always told us as we were growing up that she didn’t want one empty seat in the temple that we needed to find a worthy spouse and to be married in the temple for time and all eternity so that our seat wasn’t empty. On my parents, 50th wedding anniversary I was talking with my mom about the plans for the party and I wanted to know what she wanted to do and my mom‘s response was that she wanted all her children and their spouses in the temple doing sealings. This would be a hard task for two of my brothers are in the military and we didn’t have much time to plan but as I was planning the spirit let me know that it was going to be okay and everything was going to work out. On the day of their 50th anniversary, some of us had started to gather in the temple in the sealing room and we only had a short time so we went ahead and started with those who were there and as we were doing sealings my two brothers and their wives came into the room and surprised my parents, I will never forget the look on my mothers face as she saw her two sons in the temple and also that her dream of having us all in the temple had come true. For many months after the 50th celebration, my mother would always tell me that she was so grateful that everything worked out and that her whole entire family was able to be in the temple.


Our Mother gave the best Hugs! She was a great listener and gave sound advice, with words of encouragement. Mom often quoted a scripture to help lift me through challenging times and remind me to have Joy in my Journey! Her beautiful Smile radiated and let us know she Loved us! Thank you Mom for your Legacy of  Faith & Love. Mom & Dad taught us through example. Thank you for daily living the principles of the gospel. Mothers life encourages me to be a better person and strive to do better!

Mom had a very awesome way of teaching her children so many different life lessons. She listened, gave great advice, and helped us all navigate through many trials and life choices. She was always found being an example of kindness and righteousness. We would often walk in on her kneeling at her bedside praying. Then later she would be found reading her scriptures, studying the lessons for the upcoming Sunday, or reading the Ensign. She taught us to love one another by telling us she loved us often. She was an example of selfless service as she served our family and anyone else, she could. Mom and Dad showed affection for each other by greeting one another with a kiss before Dad left and another kiss when he came home from work.  We all knew how much they loved one another.  
If  we were found fighting with each other mom would sit us down on the couch and we then we each take turns reading allowed a verse from Mosiah chapter 4 verses 14 and 15. Which reads … ye will not suffer your children to fight and quarrel one with another. Ye will teach them to love one another, and to serve one another.” Still to this day we all pretty much have those verses memorized.  
Other times when there was too much contention in the house, or when some of her children were being moody or grumpy she’d tell us, “go open the door and tell Satan to get out of the house, he is not welcome here!”
Sometimes after church you could find some of us kids still in our church clothes sitting quietly on the couch with our arms folded, reverently listening to church hymns. Mom said if you can’t behave in church then you can practice behaving at home!

I appreciate everyone's support during this time! From sending flowers or cards to providing meals and especially joining the funeral, either in person or online. It has been great to celebrate her life. She was the light of my life making me want to do better. Her smile melted away all worries and you could tell from that smile that she loved you. 
She was not much of a camper when we first married, but she learned to enjoy the out doors with me, being in God's creation. 
After all of the children were out of the house Elaine and I would hook on the trailer and just the two of us go camping. We went many places, just the two of us, from Tucson to the Rim. We would take walks together and watch the sunset. We had everything we needed in that trailer, the two of us together. 
She always wanted to serve a mission and we were blessed to be able to serve at the Family History center in Mesa. She loved our mission together. She was a very vivid genealogist and loved helping others with family search. The days we weren't at the family history center she would still be on the computer at home working on her genealogy. She wanted to bless her ancestors with the blessings of the gospel and temple.
We knew eventually there would be a temple on our side of town and with the Phoenix temple opening up we were super excited to be able to serve there. We loved getting up early in the morning to be in the temple together all day.  
Elaine, we are together forever. You are my brown eyed girl forever. 

I have lots of experiences I could share about Elaine and I in our teen years.  She was fun and loving and kept most of our group in line.  We walked many mornings in the dark to early morning seminary.  We’d meet in the field between our houses, but for us it was a good way to start the day.  I want to share a memory that started with a seminary event.  All of the junior and senior seminary students throughout the valley were invited to Tempe Institute for a talk given by Roberta Shore.( look her up). Charlotte volunteered to drive.  So she and Melvin, Elaine and I went together.  After Charlotte picked us up she remembered she had forgotten something at home, so we went to the Clement home and she invited us in.  I remember Grandma Clement had just taken some homemade bread from the oven, it smelled heavenly, it was a very comfortable and inviting home.  Elaine and I were admiring the family pictures on top of the piano.  On one side of the piano was Glen’s senior picture and on the other end was John’s senior picture.  We asked Charlotte who they were.  ( they went to west high and we were in different wards so we had no association with Glen and John) she told us they were her brothers who were serving missions.  Glen was in New Zealand and John was in Ireland.  As we talked,  Elaine said to me “ wouldn’t it be great if we married these brothers”.    We laughed, but Elaine was always visionary.  Of course her prophecy came true and we married those brothers!  I’d say that has made all the difference.  The best decision of our lives was to marry into the Marion and Jewel Clement family.

Dear Clement Family,
My deepest condolences to all of you.  I always enjoyed being able to come to your home during the time I spent in Phoenix on my mission.  Your mom was always sure to sign up to feed us such good home cooked meals.  She was a kind and wonderful person who raised a great family.

Glenn and family, I'm so sorry for your loss.  I wanted your family to know  how I felt about Elaine. She was always so welcoming to me at family functions, loving, sweet and I always felt a genuineness from her, may your HF bless you all during this difficult time, I'm certain she left you with many sweet memories.

I have so many great memories of an amazing and loving mom. Hard to chose just one! 
In Highschool, I was fairly blind and needed glasses to read the board. Not being very responsible I broke my only pair. Mom was worried about how we were going to be able to afford new glasses, but thankfully she was able to get things to work out that we did not have to pay anything. As we picked up the new glasses she repeatedly told me that this blessing came because she and dad paid their tithing. She made sure that I knew God had opened the windows of heaven.
As an adult, I joined the military and moved far away from her and family. In that career, I felt the Spirit leading me to become a Chaplain. When I told her where God was leading me she immediately was filled with the Spirit and told me that she knew this is what God wanted. With her encouragement, I was able to move forward and become a Chaplain and have enjoyed the last 7 years. All made possible because a mother believed in me. 
There are so many memories of sitting next to her and having her squeeze my hand. In that small squeeze spoke so much love where I knew that I belonged and could do anything. Thanks, mom for loving me and believing in me. 

Our sweet mother was always there for us in our time of need to comfort and lend a listening ear.  She was a strong woman in her faith in Jesus Christ as well as being able to physically endure many hard trials throughout her entire life.  She lived her life as a true disciple of Christ.  I love you mom, always and forever!
