When I met this amazing woman, It didn't take long for me to love her. I thought of her as my own grandmother and never once did a day go by where she didn't have a beautiful smile on her face despite the pain she was in. I could proudly say she's one of the strongest women I've ever met, and being around her always brightened my day. She taught us how to love unconditionally, to be selfless, and be strong no matter what and love life to the fullest. I'm glad I got to talk to her before she died, I let her know she's amazing and I love her very much. She knew how much she meant to me and that's all that matters. What I'm going to miss is her face lighting up when I walked in the room and she would say "hi Kelsea!!" She loved company. 
I love you grandma, and until it's my turn to go I will carry your spirit and legacy you left behind. Rest in peace and paradise angel.

For the last year it was the biggest blessing to be able to move my mother into my home and be her caregiver.  My mother was my best friend and we had a bond that was unbreakable.  She was the strongest woman I've ever known and she endured and overcame many challenges.  I have to admit that there was a time in my teenage years when I made some bad choices but my mom was my main supporter in my life regardless. No matter what she never gave up on me.  My mother cared deeply for everyone she knew, whether you were her family, friend or a member of the community.  She was always willing to help out someone in need.  She had the kindest heart of anyone I knew.  She was a generous, loving, supportive and unselfish woman who always put other people before herself.  What I am going to miss the most about my mom is her gorgeous blue eyes, vibrant smile, and her humor.  She would do anything to make you smile.  I loved and will miss our long talks and her just telling me about her day.  I am eternally thankful for all of the memories that I have made with her over the years and will cherish them forever.  Now that she is gone I feel like my heart is shattered in pieces but I know that she is with me. Although it hurts that she is gone, I can be happy knowing that she is no longer in pain and she is in the presence of Jesus.  On november 23rd my mom received her angel wings.  I can't wait to see her again when God calls me home.  

I wanted to share this poem because my mother is my angel. 


Once upon a time an angel held my hand, 
She wiped away my tears and helped me understand.
Our time on earth is brief, there's lessons to be learned,
Each precious day God gives us another page is turned.
Every chapter full of memories, times of joy and tears,
Triumphs and defeats, through every passing year.
She loved us unconditionally, always by our side,
When no one else would listen, in her we could confide.
With gentle words of wisdom she led us on our way,
Down the paths of righteousness if ever we did stray. 
She saw the light in everyone and gave with no regrets,
Always from her heart let's us not forget.
Angels come in many forms, for me it is my mother,  
With love I cannot say in words there'll never be another.  
Every day I turn the page in my heart will ever remain,  
Everything she taught me as I stroll down memory lane.  
Thank you God for giving me the most priceless of all treasures,
Help my Lord to keep alive her memory here forever.
I pray that I can some day be everything she hoped I would,  
That's she smiling down from heaven knowing she did good.  
As we gather here today there's no ending to her story,
Another chapter has begun full of grace and glory.
Gods called her to his heavenly home, part of his great plan,
Although it may be hard, we all must understand.
Faith is what is hoped for, things we cannot see,
Heaven is promised to all of us if only we believe.

My great grandma was the best! She used to always sneak and give me food and she used to cuddle with me on her recliner.  I loved being her dog.  I miss her so much.  Ever since she went away I have been so sad.  She used to always call me the boss, I think it's because I always sat by her bed...I had to make sure she was okay. I love you grandma, and I will carry you with me. I miss being your puppy.

My nana was the best thing in the world I love her so much I use to call and talk to her everyday to make sure she was doing okay when I would visit her when I came in or when I would leave I would always give her a kiss I remember watching the games with her when it was the lakers vs the suns I would always so for the lakers when they would score I would always tell her look nana they just scored she would tell Alicia shut up we will see who wins in the end I remember always getting a phone call when they would lose so to could brag about her suns and when I was little I remember joining the jr. Suns and she would always make sure she was there with me to cheer me on I always loved sleeping over at her house and every chance I got I would go see her I remember getting on the bus just to go see her she would always give me a Pepsi and always told me I could have whatever candy I wanted she always made sure she had junk me and her eating candy whoppers or three musketeers and jolly ranchers the red ones were her favorite she never really wanted to eat food but when she did it was a steak and she had to make sure it was a little bit bloody and in the morning for breakfast she would make me potatoes and cheese scaue I will always remember all the time we shared I love you nana and not a day will go by that I don't miss you

My grandma and I were always very close.  We were inseparable.  In the last year of her life I loved having her live in the same house as us because I always got to spend time with her whenever I wanted.  We would always watch suns games and wrestling.  I loved it when she would play UNO with me and my sister. I will miss the way she always made up nicknames for me like “Mr. Wonderful, and Loverboy”.  One thing I will miss the most about my grandma is just being able to be in her presence.  My grandma meant the world to me and I miss her so much.  Now that she is gone, my life will never be the same.  I love you grandma. 

This is a poem that I wanted to share because it means a lot to me: 


Grandma

Thank you for the gift of love,
now you're sharing it up above.

You had many things to say.
All in a caring way.

You always saw good in everyone,
No matter what they've done.

You were always the one we could all lean on.
Even though it must have felt like a ton.

You were always the strength of the family.
Now we must let you rest calmly.

As we say goodbye,
as tears roll down our eyes.

I know your place in heaven has a good view.
Because you're telling God,
I need to keep an eye on a few.

I know you will always be in our hearts and mind.
So Grandma,
I must go, but I'll never forget you're one of a kind.

Dear Grandma,
It is still very hard to believe you're gone. Everyone has gathered today to say our goodbyes and honor you in the best way we can. You are incredibly special to everyone who has ever been blessed enough to have met you. You are one-of-a-kind and we all miss you terribly.

I know that you are happy now where you are. I can only imagine how joyous the reunion was with all the family members you've lost over the years. Please enjoy them and don't be sad for us.

You gave everything you had and more to make us all as happy as possible, and now it is finally your turn. Your sacrifices did not go unnoticed. Your love is forever appreciated and valued more than you may ever know.  Grandma, the greatest reward in my life is knowing you. Nothing in the world could ever replace one second of the time I was lucky enough to spend with you.

I loved just to sit and talk with you about anything, no matter how trivial. You always had time for me. You were never too busy and you never pushed me away.  You were constantly checking up on me and making sure I was okay, even when it was my job to take care of you.

God had a special plan for you, Grandma. I think He knew that Heaven couldn't ever really be Heaven without you. I don't know why He waited so long to call you home, but I'm so thankful that He did.

I love you and cherish you with all my heart. I see you in the sunshine and I feel your presence in every warm breeze.

Thank you for all your kindness and sweet words.  Thank you for your wisdom, tenderness,  compassion, your understanding, your patience, and your love. Thank you for your sweet smiles and those gorgeous blue eyes.  Thank you for your sense of humor.  But most of all, thank you for always thinking of everyone else long before you ever thought of yourself. Thank you for making our lives far more special than they ever could have been without you. I love you more than anything else in this world and I'll see you again someday. --


My grandmother was my best friend and although there isn't' much that is comforting at this time, when I found this poem...it reminded me so much of my grandmother and her journey.


God saw you were getting tired, and
 A cure was not to be,

So he wrapped His arms around you
And whispered 'Come with Me.'

With tearful eyes we watched you suffer
And saw you fade away,

Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating
Hard working hands laid to rest

God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.

Mom I was truly blessed to be your caregiver,best friend,daughter,and everything else.You will always be forever in my heart and soul,your spirit will always be in my heart.I love you for infinity and beyond.

Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.

My fondest memory was when she surprised me on my 16th birthday with a sweet sixteen birthday cake - it was the first store bought birthday cake I had ever had.  Who is going to be calling to remind of birthdays, anniversaries and other specials dates - you will be dearly missed.

Shirley will be dearly missed on this earth, but we will rejoice in seeing her again when the time comes.  I miss you terribly but feel I was very lucky to have you for a cousin and friend all these years.  Love you always...

I will carry Shirley's legacy of tenacity and determination with me every day. May her caretaker's find those qualities in their lives and carry her spirit in their hearts.

Shirley had the fastest moves on those slot machines levers.   She was always on the go, but kept up with family and friends birthdays and anniversaries.

Shirley was like my own grandmother from my best friends side of his family!! She was awesome and amazing and caring and respectful to everyone she knew!! I love her and miss her so much but she is in a great place now and she is pain free!! May she rest in peace <3

I never got to meet her but what I did hear about her was amazing things I know she meant the world to T and Tracy and ever one else who she was close to know she is all ways with u guys and that she loved all of u so much love your friend contisha

My grammy will be remembered as a beautiful woman who loved everyone.  She was always willing to do thing for others even if you didn't ask her to.  If she knew you needed help or needed something...she would get it for you.  She had a huge heart and loved her family so much! I will always remember how she would watch animal planet with me all day just because she knew I loved it and she wanted to spend time with me. She was my very best friend and I was very blessed to have such a supportive and loving grandmother.

Shirley will be remember by family as the one who remembered everyone's birth date and would keep out of state relatives updated on the AZ family members.  She will be missed.              Cousin Sharon Persons
