

Tom is survived by his children, Stephanie (Mark) Martinez, Bentley (Roma) Colbert, and Marcus (Laurie) Colbert, his brother Roy (Beth) Colbert, brother-in -law Frank (Maria) Garcia Jr, sister in law Janice Colbert. He is also survived by his grandchildren Stefan, Levi, Jessica, Tara, Jade, Caitlin, Logan, Crockett and Cassidy, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Colbert.
He wore many hats in life, most notably he was the Montezuma County Commissioner for 12 years from 1985-1996. Tom is one of only four people to have had the honor of being elected to three consecutive terms. He was very instrumental in the founding and construction Mancos Rural Water Company for the Mancos Valley. He at one time was the Operator, Manager, and served on the Board for many years. Tom also served on the MWCD Board for over 30 years. He was also very instrumental in the Indian water rights settlement of 1988. A cowboy at heart, he was also a rancher, farmer knowing the value of land and water.
Tom became a member of the Church of Christ in 1968, and has been a devoted member ever since.
Family and friends are invited to attend services at West Resthaven Funeral Home (6450 W. Northern Avenue in Glendale) on Friday, July 16, 2021 with visitation from 8:00AM to 9:00AM. Funeral service will immediately follow at 9:00AM. Tom will be laid to rest with his wife Virginia at Resthaven Park Cemetery also in Glendale.
