Irmgard Maria Bluem, neé Haefner was born in Wöerthe, Germany, August 10, 1928. She grew up in Bavaria with her older sister Elsbeth. In the years after WWII, the young women met and married two German-American brothers and moved to California to raise their families. Irmgard was a devoted wife and mother. Adventurous, social and outgoing, she loved to dance, to entertain her friends, and make a beautiful home for her family. In her later years she moved to Rancho Bernardo where she was active in San Rafael Catholic Church and continued to enjoy traveling. My mother was the most resilient person I know. She sacrificed more than I will ever know for her family. She was an inspiration and a friend, and will be missed by those who loved her.
