My name is Wayne Martin, and I was a former teacher and coworker of Julio’s at The Help Group from 1994 until my retirement in 2019. I want to extend my sincere sympathies and condolences to the Patron family, for my heart aches for you over your great loss. I am sending all my love and prayers, and I wish you peace and comfort during this difficult time.

I first met Julio way back in 1994, shortly after I was hired at The Help Group as a classroom aide. I remember it still to this day—coming around the corner in the school hallway on my first day and running into a guy with a big curly black hairdo, wearing a Rolling Stones “lips” shirt with the sleeves cut off, sweatpants, and a big grin who exclaimed happily, “Hi, I’m Julio Patron!" And so began my 25-year journey of knowing and working with and alongside him.

Julio was a reliable and ever-present coworker and even spent time as my classroom aide. He was fully immersed in his job, often performing in all kinds of roles and duties. Julio was well-liked by the students and had an amazing ability to communicate and build relationships with them while helping them become successful over time within the program.

I am very grateful to have known Julio. He made me laugh. He gave me different perspectives to consider outside of my own. We had great talks about history and life, with him often telling me stories of his own life in the 1970s. We often cheerfully debated which sport was better, football or soccer; discussed films, music, and politics; and, of course, food, drink, and the best restaurants.

I will miss Julio deeply, for he was one of those amazing, “one of a kind” individuals. Thank you, Julio, for being a part of my life during my long journey as an educator. I won’t ever forget you; rest easy, your work is done, kind and funny soul.

To Julio's family we send our deepest condolences and prayers for your loss. Julio was an amazing human and friend. We are Andy and Angie Falk and we met Julio at New School. He was the funniest and most friendly guy you could ever meet. He loved Rock and roll and I am a guitar player in a rock band so it was instant comraderie.  When the school let me start a songwriting class where the kids could write songs and play instruments, Julio was there every day helping make the class much better. He loved the Rolling Stones and he could definitely move like Jagger. He could legit play the blues harmonica. He recorded vocals and harmonica on a couple of my songs. I'm so glad I have those songs to remind me how much fun he was. We went to many concerts together and also played a few concerts together. It was never dull with Julio, he loved rock and roll and maybe he was able to be a rock star especially on the weekends! I will miss him greatly and we both have very fond memories of Julio.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. May his memory be a blessing to you and all who knew him. God bless you Julio we will miss you and never forget you. Thank you for your presence in my life. Thank you for being a great friend and the best father figure to me. Thank you for helping me see the light when I was in the dark. You will forever be in my heart. “Love can touch us one time and last for a life time”. I am thankful that you were in my world and a huge part of my life. Thank you for all that you did; dedicating your self to the hundreds of kids that needed a strong caring loving person in times of need. You were one amazing human Patron.
