

A Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary for 63 years, Sister Margery (Robert) Flynn, died on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Regina Residence in Orange. One of 9 children, she was born in Waterford, Ireland on August 24, 1933. She entered the RSHM congregation in Tarrytown, New York, and later received a BA and Teaching Credential from Marymount College, Los Angeles. All of her active life was devoted to teaching and related areas in elementary schools in: St. Alphonsus, Los Angeles; St. Patrick’s, North Hollywood; St. Francis de Sales, Sherman Oaks; Christ the King, Los Angeles; Marymount Junior, Los Angeles and Palos Verdes; and St. Joseph of Cupertino, Cupertino.
Sister Margery was a conscientious and dedicated teacher. Her kindness and compassion reached out to all. She had a quick and dry sense of humor and is well remembered for her one of a kind one liners. When hearing impairment prevented her from teaching, she volunteered in many areas in the schools and was loved by students and staff alike. Her retirement years were spent at Mission Lodge in San Gabriel and Regina Residence in Orange.
She is predeceased by her parents, her sisters Philomena and Carmel, who died quite young, and her sister Vera, who lived in California and died in 2004, and her brother, William. She is survived by her sisters Mary Airey, Nancy Behan, and brothers, Edward and Robert, as well as many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
She will be greatly missed by her RSHM Sisters, her family, those who so lovingly cared for her at Mission Lodge and Regina Residence, her students and her many friends.
Mass of the Resurrection will be at Sacred Heart of Mary Chapel, 441 No. Garfield Avenue, Montebello, 90640, on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. After a Reception, burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 5835 W. Slauson Avenue, Culver City, at approximately 1:00 p.m.
