Roger was born into a loving, kind and respectful family. He learned to be a supportive, generous, forgiving, well-spoken gentleman. These traits stayed with him his whole life.
The family was proud of Roger's accomplishments, including being the first to attend a four-year university. He graduated from the prestigious Texas A & M University in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
The United States government sent him around the world including Asia and Europe to use his expertise. At home, he worked on the Space Shuttle with N.A.S.A.
After he moved to California to start in the restaurant business, he met his beloved Gloria in 1997. She operated Precision Hair Salon and was Vice-President of the Ontario Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He was always supportive of her community work in Ontario and later in Silver Lake. They married February 20, 2000 and were associated with Siete Mares Restaurants for 30 years. Siete Mares employees expressed their respect and appreciation by calling him Don Roger.
Pastimes included golf, music (Elvis Presley, Big Band, Isidro Lopez), relaxing in Palm Springs (enjoying a cigar and cognac), and spending time with friends and family.
Gloria says, "He didn't ask for a lot. He always helped others. All he was, was love. He will be greatly missed."
A favorite prayer of Roger's is from the Breastplate of St. Patrick
Christ be with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,
Christ to comfort and restore me,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me...
