

Thomas J Rom, 85, of Woodhaven, NY died at home surrounded by his wife and children on October 21, 2024.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Ridgewood, NY. He attended St. Mathias Elementary and Brooklyn Technical High School. He worked for the Brooklyn Navy Yard as a machinist and the NYC Board of Education as a machinist then later as an engineer until his retirement in 1994.
Once retired he rediscovered his passion for traveling, gardening, woodworking, cooking and thrifting. He loved spending time at different beaches with his family, especially in Delaware, Florida and New Jersey. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, traveling on vacation and watching them play sports.
He will be fondly remembered for his love and dedication to family and friends, his compassion and caring for others and his great sense of humor.
He is survived by his bride of 62 years, MariAnn and their four children, Anne Doring (Richard), Thomas Rom Jr. (Patricia), Joyce Hornung (Frank), and Kathleen Rom plus his 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A visitation for Thomas will be held Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Werst & LaBella Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper Ave, Glendale, NY 11385. A religious ceremony will occur Friday, October 25, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, 8719 88th Ave, New York, NY 11421.
