Carol J. Mehring of Golden passed away February 5, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the
late Clinton Mehring, mother of Jim, Chip and Martha; grandmother of Maddie, Carl, Walter,
Riley and Jack; sister of Richard and Tom Adams and the late Bonnie Rothgeb, She was born
on July 4, 1923 in New Haven, Indiana.
During WWII she joined the US Navy and served as an aircraft gunnery instructor at Kaneohe
Bay NAS, Hawaii. Following the war, she married her high school sweetheart and earned a BFA
from the Cleveland Institute of Art. She moved to Golden in 1950. She shepherded her family
on overseas assignments to Quito, Ecuador and Lahore, West Pakistan before returning to
Golden permanently in 1965.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 12 at 10:30 at the Golden First United
Methodist Church followed by internment at Golden Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1500 Ford Street,
Golden or the Foothills Art Center, 809 15th Street, Golden.
