6/11/25-10/31/15
On a blustery Halloween morning, at 12:30 am, Paul Robert Epstein left this life, peacefully, at Lutheran Hospice in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
Paul was born in Crawford, Nebraska, and lived in a number of places including Kremling, Colorado, until he moved with his family—mother Helen Graff Epstein, father William Meyer Epstein, brothers William and John, and sister Joan—to Denver. He graduated from North High School in 1943 and joined the Army Air Corps. In his military career he achieved the rank of Flight Officer, was awarded his pilot’s Wings at Luke Field and flew fighter aircraft, but was not involved in combat. After he left the military in 1946 he attended and graduated from the University of Denver. He married his high school sweetheart, Gloria Stewart in 1951 and had two girls, Michelle and Chris. He married his second wife, Sandra Lea Whalen Epstein in 1963 and had two more girls, Kyra and Anne.
He was a skilled and competitive outdoorsman, accomplished at golf, tennis, skiing, fishing, and anything else he set his mind to—and passed on his love for the beautiful Rocky Mountains to all his daughters. He had a long and illustrious career as a math teacher in Castle Rock High School, Cole Junior High, and Thomas Jefferson High School.
He was a loving father and husband and a devoted son and brother. He is survived by his wife, Sandra, his daughters Michelle, Chris, Kyra, and Anne, his brother John, and all of his many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He is loved and will be missed.
The Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at Olinger Woods Chapel in Golden. If you would like to share a memory of Paul with his family, please send them to [email protected].
