

Richard S. Ames (Dick) passed away quietly with his wife Faye by his side after a long bout with cancer. Dick moved to Colorado to be closer to grandchildren, living in Broomfield and later Golden. He grew up in Florida attending Fletcher High school and Jacksonville University. As a young man, he served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Korea and in England. Dick retired from American Greetings Corporation where he worked as a sales representative for over 30 years in South Carolina. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
Dick is survived by his wife Faye, sisters Georgia (Blanton) and Polly (Vela), sons Rich, David Scarbro, Eric Scarbro, and daughter Shawn Abbatte. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren: Rachel, Erica, Molly, Anthony, Will, and Rebekah. He is preceded in death by his brother Whitney and his sister Ruth (Lee).
Funeral services for Dick will be held on 2 November at 12:30 PM in the Olinger Woods Chapel, Golden, Colorado. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Dick’s name.
