

Hogan was born November 29, 1923 to James E. and Anna B. (Carlberg) Hogan on his family farm near Wiggins. He grew up in a two-room house with eight brothers and sisters. He attended the Old Trail School near Hoyt, Colorado, and later attended Wiggins High School, graduating in 1943. He married Erlene M. Penfold on February 16, 1947 at Fort Morgan Lutheran Church, Fort Morgan, Colorado, and had three children, Dennis E. Hogan, Pamela M. Harman, and Annette Hogan Tracy. They moved to Golden, CO, in 1952 and to Arvada, CO, in 1974 where they live today. Robert worked as a sheet metal worker and welder until his retirement in 1985, working at both Coors Brewing Company and Rocky Flats. During his retirement, he enjoyed being a full-time rancher and farmer, taking pride in both his family farm in Wiggins and the farm in Golden where he kept cows, horses and chickens. He also enjoyed spending time with his large family and sharing the stories of his life with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Golden in Golden, Colorado for 53 years. Hogan was also a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local #9 for 32 years.
Survivors include his wife, Erlene M. Hogan; a son, Dennis E. (Laura) Hogan; two daughters, Pamela M. (John) Harman and Annette Hogan (Scott) Tracy; one brother, William George Hogan; 7 grandchildren, Kally A. (Chad) Vogl, Justin T.(Julie) Harman, Kerry L. (Lonnie) Shoemaker, Kamela R. Harman, Korry L. Hogan, Olivia R. Tracy, and Griffen Hogan Tracy; 6 great-grandchildren, Tristin Harman, Peyton Harman, Tori Harman, Kaden Vogl, Grady Vogl, and London Hogan; numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Hogan was preceded in death by his parents, Anna B. and James E. Hogan; his siblings, Verna McCauley, Thomas Hogan, James Hogan, Harold Hogan, Emmett Hogan, Donald Hogan, and Virginia Lowers.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the medical professionals at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center for their compassion and support given unto the family and the care they provided Robert.
Memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2010, 2:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Golden in Golden, CO. Interment will be held at the Golden Cemetery.
