His lifelong love of Colorado and the Rocky Mountains began at age 7 when he moved with his family to Golden, Colorado. As a youngster he particularly enjoyed long hikes with his family in the Tetons and on warm, summer days in the Rockies.
He discoverd a talent for watercolor while attending Golden High School. As an adult he liked to attend new exhibits at the Denver Art Museum. His favorite artists were Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollock. He was an avid reader who sometimes read 2 books a day. He also had an ongoing passion for musical groups like Roxy Music and Blondie.
Scott is remembered for his warm heart and exceptional generosity. Gifts from him were often unique. If anyone mentioned a fondness for a particular book or candy, Scott would quickly purchase the item and give it well in advance of a birthday or holiday.
