Alan John "Boxcar" Braud Sr.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. A loving, devoted husband and father, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the age of 69. He was a native of Baton Rouge and resident of Prairieville and worked as a cattleman. He was also the former president of the Ascension Parish Police Jury and former owner of the U.S.A. Auto Truck Stop. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Linda Ann Aydell Braud, of Prairieville; daughter, Joyce Allene Braud Burris and husband Benjy, of Prairieville; two sons, Alan John Braud Jr., of Prairieville, and Richard Paul Aydell, of Hammond; six grandchildren, Amber Kenney, Cherri Craig, Devin Harris, Allison Braud, Aimee Braud, and Madison Braud; seven great grandchildren and all of his extended grandchildren; three nieces, Gwen Braud, Layce Aydell, and Sherry Lynn McDaniel; five nephews, Brent Braud, Chad Braud, T.J. Aydell, Matthew Aydell, and James Paul Thompson; mother-in-law, Imogene Aydell; brother-in-law, Troy Aydell and wife Nicole; and a sister-in-law, Donna Thompson and husband Jesse. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sylvan and Beatrice Simoneaux Braud; and a brother, Ronald Braud. A visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 10 a.m. until funeral service at 12 p.m., conducted by Rev. Raymond Wade. Burial will follow in Household of Faith Cemetery, Gonzales. Pallbearers will be Brent Braud, Chad Braud, Scott Fairchild, Tony Nicholas, Rhoddes Whiteside, and David Mougeot. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff McDaniel, T.J. Aydell Jr., and Walter Simoneaux. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
