

Allen J. Gautreau Jr. passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2015. He was born in Baton Rouge on April 30, 1936. He lived in Baton Rouge and attended Sacred Heart thru the 8th grade. The family moved to Gonzales and he graduated Gonzales High School in 1954. He attended LSU and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He received a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Army and attended the U.S. Army Signal Corps School in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. He completed his active duty at Camp Gordon, in Augusta, Georgia and served in the U.S. Army Reserves where he was promoted to Captain. He worked as an Electrical Engineer for 45 years with Barnard & Burk, RPM and associated companies. He was a treasurer of the Seventh District Volunteer Fire Department for 13 years and was selected as a Life-Time Member. His hobbies were Bonsai, woodworking and genealogy. He was president of the Louisiana Bonsai Society for 4 years. He is survived by his wife Evelyn Traylor; a daughter Kathryn Gautreau, her daughter Candace and husband Jason, and their two sons Tylar and Travis; a son Roger Gautreau, his wife Cindy and their two children Pierce and Ryn; two sisters, Myrna Peno and Remell Harder; one brother, Glynn Gautreau; Evelyn's children: Carol and husband Bruce Stamey, Sue and husband Mike Larisey, Keith and Ann Traylor and Barry and Jill Traylor and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years Mary Jane Lambert, his parents, Allen "Peck" Gautreau and Irma Braud and a brother L. Ray Gautreau. Pallbearers will be Pierce Gautreau, Tylar Steely, Gavin Gautreau, Barry Babin, Luke Landry, and Ben Larisey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Glynn Gautreau, Joe Landry, Armand Marchand and Keith Searing. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and visitation will resume on Monday October 12, 2015 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Sorrento from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev.
