Anthony Joseph "Tony" Bacala, 88, passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at his home in Prairieville. A native of Donaldsonville, he was a retired supervisor with Shell Oil Co. with 34 years of service and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Juanita Anderson Bacala, of Prairieville; daughter, Debra Bacala Bacon, of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony Jr. and Lisa Faucheux Bacala, of Prairieville; five grandchildren, Allison Leodler Williams and husband Bill, of Portland, Ore., Andrew Bacon, of Houston, Anthony Bacala III and fiancee Amanda Songy, Aaron Bacala and Angelica Bacala; and three great-grandchildren, Anthony Bacala IV, Francesca Williams and Milena Williams. Preceded in death by his parents, Pasquale and Mathilda Regira Bacala; and four sisters, Rosa Giambrone, Annette Pirello, Marie Veron and Loretta Cannon. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Tuesday, Sept. 6, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Prairieville, on Wednesday, Sept. 7, from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Eric Gyan, celebrant. Entombment in Ascension Cemetery, Donaldsonville. Pallbearers will be Anthony Bacala Jr., Anthony Bacala III, Aaron Bacala, Billy Arcement and Andrew Bacon. A graduate of Donaldsonville High School, he attended USL until the outbreak of World War II. We were all blessed by his presence in our lives. He was a powerful role model of a "good and faithful servant" and a champion for "enjoying the good things in life!" His days were filled with pleasure including his daily outings and many trips to his home in Texas. He enjoyed woodworking, going to dances and his MUSIC! He loved his family and friends and delighted in the presence of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Drs.
