Arnold Joseph Guidry passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the age of 98. He was born in Lockport on February 13, 1920 and resided in Gonzales. Arnold was awarded the “Legion of Honor” for the liberation of France during World War II where he achieved the rank of Chevalier, one of the most prestigious decorations in France. He also received a Purple Heart medal. He later retired from the oil and gas industry where he worked as an oil field pumper and gauger. Arnold enjoyed fly fishing, crawfishing and frogging. He is survived by his wife, Mae Doris Guedry Bourgeois Guidry; son, Edward John Guidry; daughter-in-law, Angell Pamela Guidry; sister, Mary Jean Palmer; 6 grandchildren, Angela Schnuelle, Jeffrey Seago, Jason Seago, Lisa Guidry Dudek, Gina Guidry Gonzales, Dawn Yvette Guidry Mitchell; 7 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noeh Joseph Guidry, Sr. and Jean Ford; first wife, Doris Mae Bourgeois Guidry; daughter, Brenda Ann Guidry; son, Leonard Joseph Guidry; brothers, Roy, Noeh, Jr., and Stanley and sisters, Alice and Lorraine “Tut”. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 5PM until 9PM. Visitation will continue at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 9AM until service at 11AM, celebrant Fr. Eric Gyan. Interment to follow at Hope Haven in Gonzales.
