Betty Jean Worthy

A lifelong resident of St. Amant, she passed away Friday, December 27, 2013, at the age of 71. She was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother, a talented artist, and a member of the Art Guild of Gonzales. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Paul "Tim" and Melodie Worthy; daughter, Tessie Bazile and Dale Bourgeois; grandchildren, Megan Melancon, Jarod Worthy, Kirstin Bazile, Stephanie Worthy, Kaitlin Bazile, Shawn Bales, Chantel Bales; eight great grandchildren; brother, Paul "Buck" Carpenter; and a sister, June Sanchez. She is preceded in death by her husband, John E. Worthy; parents, Paul and Alma Carpenter; great granddaughter, Khloe Marie Delatte; brother, Harold Carpenter Sr.;and a sister, Ruth Wells. There will be a visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, Monday, December 30, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at St. Mark Catholic Church in Gonzales, Tuesday, December 31, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Rubin Reynolds, celebrant. She will be lay to rest with her husband and parents in the New River Baptist Church Cemetery in St. Amant. Pallbearers will be her nephews and grandsons.
