Blaine began his career in Sno’s family’s restaurant, learning the value of hard work and hospitality from an early age. He was a partner in Specialized Industrial Maintenance, a successful refractory company, and several other successful business ventures throughout his life. His strong work ethic and integrity shaped not only his companies, but also the many people blessed to work alongside him. He believed deeply in lifting others up, and extended kindness and generosity to those around him. He gave generously to area schools, charities and civic organizations that strengthened the community he loved.
His leadership extended into public service and Blaine served as President, Vice President and Commissioner of the Pontchartrain Levee District and The Port of Greater Baton Rouge. He had a deep love of politics and enjoyed engaging in lively conversations, sharing stories, and discussing current events with others. He also had a true love of the outdoors.
Blaine’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, weekends with the love of his life Susan at their camp on Belle River, hunting with his sons and grandsons, activities and sporting events with his grandchildren and traveling with his siblings. His generous heart, humor, and unmistakable presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Blaine bravely fought a long and difficult battle with ALS, facing the disease with tremendous courage and dignity. The family would like to sincerely thank Team Gleason Foundation, Pulmonologist Dr Brierre, Dr Tyler Boudreaux and Pinnacle Hospice. You made our journey possible through your compassionate care and unwavering support. Blaine’s life reflects the words of 2 Timothy 4:7: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
