Brian David Bourgeois

A beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Brian D. Bourgeois, passed away on April 17, 2015 at Gonzales Healthcare. He was 71 years old, born in New Orleans, La. on September 2, 1943, raised in St. Amant, La. and retired from BASF, Geismar, La. He was residing in French Settlement. Brian leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Gilda Richey Bourgeois; two children: Cary Bourgeois and wife Kim, and Dena Bourgeois Edmonston; two siblings, Brenda Bourgeois Catoire and husband H.P. and Barry Bourgeois and wife Barbara Michel Bourgeois. He also leaves behind two step daughters, Nicole Newport and husband, Jason and Yvette Broussard and husband, Charles; and a step son, Robert Mayeaux, Jr. Brian also had 12 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by His parents, David A. Bourgeois and Noelie "Pee Wee" Bourgeois, his first wife and mother of his children, Monica Austin Bourgeois and his youngest daughter Gwen Bourgeois Delaune. Brian's past times included cooking, golfing and dancing. Visitation will be from 9:00am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am on Tuesday April 21, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant. Burial following the Mass will be at Cornerview Cemetery. The family and friends will gather at Berthelot's Hall in St. Amant after the burial. Pallbearers will be Jamie Bourgeois, B.J. Delaune, Mason Delaune, Nicholas Newport, Jacob Delaune, and Darren Amedee. The family would like to thank everyone who visited, cared for and/or prayed for Brian during his illness.
