Carol Elizabeth Fogarty Kirby

Carol Elizabeth Kirby, nee Fogarty, was born in New Orleans Louisiana on Wednesday October 18, 1939, and passed suddenly but peacefully on Wednesday June 12, 2024. She graduated as salutatorian of John McDonough High School in 1957. After starting her family, she worked for 25 years as a customer service representative for Bell South Yellow Pages. She enjoyed New Orleans music and food, playing Canasta, and cheering on the Saints, LSU and Tulane. She also loved supporting her two daughters’ dance interests for many years.

Carol became a very dedicated prayer enthusiast throughout her life’s challenges, and is known to many for this gift from God. She will be missed by many!

She is preceded in death by her father Raymond Thomas Fogarty, Sr and her mother Emily Elizabeth Leche Fogarty. She is survived by her brother Raymond Thomas Fogarty, Jr (Linda), her daughters Karen Lacour Hohenschutz (Frederick), and Diane Kirby Casebonne (Paul), grandchildren Harding and Lauren Hohenschutz, step-grandchildren Paul C Casebonne (Kayla) and Crystal Encardes (Todd), nieces Shannon and Erin Fogarty, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in French Settlement on Thursday July, 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday July 13, 2024 at Canal Bank Club, 18489 LA-22, Maurepas, LA 70449, beginning at 11:00 AM. Donations to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, Louisiana SPCA, or Catholic Charities of New Orleans in lieu of flowers are appreciated.
