Claude “Buddy” John Cambre passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the age of 80, just two days shy of his 81st birthday. He was born and raised in Port Vincent, Louisiana, where he lived his entire life.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Cambre Grenfell (Wayne), two grandsons, Brooks & Hunter Grenfell and his sister, Virginia Hall (Cargle). He is preceded in death by his parents, John & Evie Cambre. He will be missed by many other friends and family members. Buddy proudly served his country in the US Navy. He fought in the Vietnam War, where he served two tours and received a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three stars and Vietnam Campaign Service Metal. He would later go on to work for Vulcan Chemicals as an Electrical Engineer for many years until he retired. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors, especially turtle fishing. He also loved going with his daughter and grandsons to any antique store, flea market or little junk shop to find anything he deemed worthy. It was well known in the village of Port Vincent that if it was broke, Buddy could fix it. He had a love for Swamp Pop music and even found joy in being a DJ. He loved playing music at the Council on Aging in Springfield, LA. Through all his accomplishments in life and all the large milestones, he still enjoyed a simple day sitting around with family, with a diet coke and a slice of pizza from Marlin’s. A special thanks to the community of Port Vincent, family, and friends who have helped through the years to make sure Buddy always had what he needed. There will be a Military Burial to take place at a later date. Fond memories and words of condolences can be expressed at www.OursoFH.com
