Born on December 28, 1967, Clay lived a life filled with passion and kindness. He was the kind of man who made you feel at home the moment you met him—quick with a joke, quicker with a helping hand, and always ready to pull up a chair and strum away at his guitar and sing. Clay’s love for racing and music was a part of who he was. From motocross to drag racing, and back porch parties. It was his way of connecting—with his kids, with his friends, and with the world. Clay’s love for his family, his friends, and his beautiful fiancé Lori knew no bounds. He had the kind of friendships that spanned decades, built on trust, laughter, and more than a few tall tales.
Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Clay lived his life exactly how he wanted—full throttle. Rest easy, Dad. Know we will carry your spirit in our hearts forever.
Clay is preceded in death by his loving wife, Cari Smiley. Mother and father Linda and Larry Smiley. Grandparents, Ida and Melvin Naquin and Yola and Ellis Smiley.
Clay is survived by his daughter Caci(Ally), son Coty, grandchildren, Payson and Baylor, brothers Blane(Lizzi), Brady(Jami), Sidney S.E. Sellers(Crystal), niece and nephews Brant, Laurel, Alyssa, Kade, Karly, Kylie, Jada, and Tosha and his loving Fiancé, Lori Blount.
