A native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Prairieville, Clyde passed away on December 15th which was his 91st birthday. Clyde was a car salesman for Lousteau and All Star Ford with 47 years of service where he was known as “The Houdini”. Clyde also served his country as a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. having fought in WW II. A visitation will take place at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Wednesday December 19th from 8:00 AM until a celebration of Clyde's life at 10:30 AM celebrated by Rev. Jerry Martin. Interment will follow at Prairieville Community Cemetery. Clyde is survived by 2 daughters and 2 son-in-laws: Rena McPhee and Ron of Denton, Texas and Lisa Gautreau and Lance of Prairieville, 1 son and daughter-in-law: Cody Melancon and Sabrina of Prairieville, 1 daughter-in-law: Patricia Melancon of Baton Rouge, 1 sister: Mary M. Babin of Gonzales, 7 grandchildren: Bridget Jumonville, Honey Stanley, Jimmy Lee Jones, Justin Gautreau, Stefan Gautreau, Brianna Melancon and Kaley Melancon plus numerous great grandchildren including his namesake, Clyde Joshua Gautreau. Clyde is preceded in death by his father: Clyde F. Melancon, Sr., Mother: Bessie D. Gautreau, Son: Clyde F. Melancon, III, Brother: Kenneth D. Melancon and great grandson: Tomas Jones. Pallbearers will be Bill Delaune, Richard Moeller, Peanut Cornett, Troy Jumonville, Justin Gautreau and Stefan Gautreau. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Geismar, Jr. and Gabe Bourgeois. Clyde enjoyed horse racing, Yankees baseball, cooking, and spending time with his family. Clyde opened the Fiesta Grill in Gonzales, La and was also the former owner of the Cactus Grill in Atlanta, Georgia. The family would like to thank the staff of Azalea Estates, Gonzales Healthcare, and Bridgeway Hospice for their special care of Clyde, especially Lisa Fuller and Mackenzie Frietas.
