Etta Winona "Winnie" Wheat

Etta Winona "Winnie" Wheat, a resident of Colyell, La passed away at her home on Tuesday, Oct 29, 2024, at the age of 89. She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Cook (Jimmy) and Rita (Greg); son Eric Fontenot (Sandra); and numerous foster children. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; brothers, Zane Blount, and Malcolm Blount; sisters, Myrtis Oliver and Melba Goings; sisters-in-law, Lila Newsom and Rodell Wheat, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Newman Boyd Wheat; parents, Clyde and Elva Davison Blount; brothers, Delton Blount and Ronnie Blount; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Joyce and Isaiah "Bear" Taylor, Rachel and Johnnie Ray Watts, Monroe and Irene Wheat, Frankie Blount, Ed Oliver, David Goings, J.C. Newsom, Earl Wheat, and Wilburn Wheat. Visiting will be held on Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, from 9 am until the funeral service at 11 am at Cornerstone Church 28278 S. Satsuma Rd, Livingston, La.
