

Eula "Lea" Ott Carpenter, 71, a native of Watson and a resident of St. Amant, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009. She was a retired server with Browns Lunches and Casino Catering. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Friday, May 29, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation at New River Baptist Church, St. Amant, on Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery. Survived by her daughters, Jackie Suir and fiancé Paul James, Jamie and husband Dwayne Watts and Melody and husband Reese Williams; four stepdaughters and two stepsons-in-law, Myrna and Ronnie Braud, Nina and Jay Meredith, Glenda Holiday and Tammy Cavanaugh; son and daughter-in-law, Bert "Joey" and Debbie Carpenter; brother, Stanley Wayne Ott; 25 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, George J. Carpenter; and father and mother, James Stanley and Georgia Amelia Kerr Ott. Pallbearers will be Paul James, Austin Carpenter, Dwayne Watts, Kaleb Purvis, Terry Templet and Barry Debate. Ms. Eula's family would like to thank her family and friends and give a special thanks to the nurses and aides with St. Joseph Hospice.
