Our beautiful mother and grandmother, Evelyn Braud Martin Bourque, age 93, of Prairieville, Louisiana died peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2022. It is a beautiful thing to outlive two adoring spouses and all but one sibling. Evelyn lived a long and wonderful life surrounded by her close-knit family on Alice Braud Lane. She was absolutely adored by her large family and friends and faithfully devoted to her Lord and Savior. Evelyn was born on February 13, 1929 in Edgard, La, the second of seven children born to Harry J. Braud, Sr. and Alice Abadie Braud of Prairieville, La. She worked for many years in the cafeteria at Dutchtown Elementary School. She is survived by her three devoted daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia Carber, Cheryl and Bryce Cox, and Eva and Joseph Easterly, Sr., all of Prairieville. She will be dearly missed by her four grandchildren and their spouses, who she considered her own: Kati and Dr. M. Vince Weaver (Baton Rouge), Corey and Marty Bourque (Prairieville), Joseph and Dr. Olga Gomez-Siegert Easterly (Covington), and Kern Cox (Prairieville). Her great grandchildren were the joy of her life: Nicole Marsh, Nate Marsh, Travis Marsh, William Henry Weaver, and Davis James Weaver. She is also survived by her loving sister, Gail Braud Decoteau and numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn’s first marriage of forty years was to William Henry “W.H.” Martin (Prairieville), who preceded her in death. She later married Myles Bourque, Sr. (Gonzales), who also preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents Harry J. Braud, Sr. and Alice Abadie Braud; four brothers, Kermit Braud, Owen Braud, Dr. Harry J. Braud, Jr., and Benoit Braud; one sister, Alice Braud Crochet; and two sons-in-law, Myles J. Bourque, Jr. and Larry Carber. Evelyn was a beloved member of the Prairieville community and a devoted parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She loved to spend time with her friends and family, visit with her neighbors on her front porch, cook, host family gatherings, and travel with the Ladies Altar Society. She will be remembered for her loving heart, her soulful singing voice, and deep Catholic faith. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 9:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Pallbearers will be Corey Martin Bourque, Joseph Edgar Easterly, Jr., Kern Thomas Cox, Chris “Butch” Decoteau, Dr. Vince Weaver, and Travis Marsh. We are thankful for Dr. John Knapp, Dr. Jared Braud, and her beloved PT, Courtney Bourgeois. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the St. John the Evangelist Cemetery Fund or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, La.
