

Evelyn Brown LeBourgeois age 92 passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024. She was born to Chester Brown and Martha Lambert Millet Brown in Whitehall, LA. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ellis LeBourgeois; her parents; her son, Brian LeBourgeois, her grandson, Willie Hill; and siblings, Edgar Joseph "EJ" Millet, Alvin Joseph "Tootsie" Millet, John Wilton Brown, Beulah Babin, and Louella Dennis. Evelyn is survived by her children, Brenda Scallan (Bruce), Charlotte Delle (Robert), Karen Boquet (Glenn-deceased), Debra Hill (Wendell 'Buck'), Carol Bercegeay (Dirk) and Douglas LeBourgeois; and sister, Betty McCoy; Evelyn has 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Evelyn and Ellis married after he returned from serving in Europe during WWII. Ellis later reenlisted in the US Army, and Evelyn served as an effective Army wife moving the family to many postings including New Orleans, LA, Newfoundland, Canada, Texas, Germany, Pennsylvania, and DeRidder, LA. before settling in St. Amant, LA. She also managed the Homefront while Ellis was deployed during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Evelyn loved to play softball and to bowl and played in a league for many years. She loved to travel and go camping with her many friends. She was a longtime member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant, LA where she volunteered and served as a Eucharistic minister. She was past President of the NCO Wives Club, past President and Treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Holy Mary Council 6389 and a member of S.A.L.T. (Seniors and Lawmen Together) in Ascension Parish. Special thanks to all her friends, nurses, CNAs, and staff at Landmark South Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Baton Rouge, LA. and Baton Rouge Hospice. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant, on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 9AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Mausoleum. Ourso Funeral Home is honored to serve the LeBourgeois family.
