Floyd “Sonny” David Womack, 76, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. He was born May 22, 1947, and was a lifelong resident of Gonzales. Sonny was a pipefitter by trade and a member of Local Union 198. Known among us as the epitome of diligence and perseverance, Sonny’s life was a testament to the art of hard work. He was a man who would roll up his sleeves whenever the situation called for it and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. In his retirement, if you didn’t find him having morning coffee with his buddies, or lunch with his best friend, Tony Landry, you could find him with his grandchildren. He was his grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader and was not only Paw Paw to them, but to many of their friends. He was preceded in death by his son, David W. Womack, son-in-law, Jason Best, parents, Clarence F. Womack and Gladys M. Broussard Womack, sisters, Jeanne Aucoin, Barbara Alleman, Edith Womack and brother-in-law, Robert DeVeer. He is survived by his wife, Diane Delatte Womack, children, Dawn Best, Daniel (Megan) Womack, Dean (Sarah) Womack, daughter-in-law, Amy Womack, grandchildren, Ethen, Gavin, Magdalynn, Alexa, Ashton, Aidan, Camden, Presley, Dane, Hadley and Aubri, brothers, James (Peggy) Womack and Archie (Diane) Womack, sister, Clara DeVeer, brother-in-law Nolan Alleman and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ethen Womack, Gavin Womack, Camden Womack, Dane Womack, Ashton Womack, and Aidan Womack. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeff DeVeer and Scott Taylor. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 9:00 am-11:00 am, with mass to follow. Burial will follow in the Womack Family Cemetery.
