He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joe Anne Robert Cox; 2 daughters, Janeen Cox Rodrigue (Ronald), and Penny Cox Moran (Jody); 3 sons, Barth Louis Cox, Jed Joseph Cox, and Thad Jude Cox Sr. (Becky); grandchildren, Matthew Rodrigue, Stephen Rodrigue, Jared Rodrigue, Thad Cox Jr., Jeremy Cox and Hunter Cox; and numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Lucy Conrad (Charlie); and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tommy Montero, Fay Babin, Terry and Brenda Robert, and Rosalind Robert

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Cox Sr., and Mae Barbier Cox; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bertha Morel, Lorraine Montero, Ralph Babin, Reggie Robert, Frances and Ferrel Sheets.

Services for George will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church 7348 Main St, Sorrento, LA 70778. Visitation will be from 9 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. He will be laid to rest at Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales, La.
