

Glenda Ruth Nugent Duplessis, a native resident of Dry Prong, LA and resident of Duplessis, LA passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the age of 86. Glenda worked for the Ascension Parish School Board from 1963 until she retired in 1996. Glenda was the valedictorian of Dry Prong High School in 1956. She went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Louisiana Tech University. She later earned a Master's Degree and Doctoral Degree in Education from Southeastern Louisiana University. She was a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and became a member of Alpha Delta Kappa whose mission is to create educational excellence. Glenda moved from classroom teacher to become the Assistant Principal at Gonzales Elementary School. She then became the Principle at Leblanc Special Services Center and finally the Director of Special Education for Ascension Parish before her retirement in 1996. In addition to her responsibilities in the classroom and as an administrator, she coached the Gonzales Middle School Eighth Grade Girl's Basketball team, leading them to several city championships. Glenda touched countless lives as an educator and was approached almost everywhere she went by former students who thanked her for the positive impact she had on their lives.
Glenda is survived by her sons, Jeffery Lynn Duplessis and his wife Nelly Duplessis, David Bryan Duplessis and his wife Torrie Amedee Duplessis; grandchildren Bryan, Alyssa (Ross), Peyton, Dru, Tiggy, and Jase Duplessis, sister Cheryl Jean Brinkly, brother Jerry Nugent. Glenda was preceded in death by her parents Glyn Lavel Nugent and Eva Bryant Nugent, and husband, Wilfred Paul "Geefoo" Duplessis.
Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 5pm to 8pm. Visitation will also take place on Saturday, December 20, 2025, beginning at 9:30 AM with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM, celebrated by Father Andrew Merrick. A reception will take place immediately following the graveside service at St. John Community Center, and all are welcome. Pallbearers will be Bris Duplessis, Dale Boudreaux, Patrick Bell, Jr, Brady Bell, Peyton Duplessis, and Bryan Duplessis. Thanks to the staff at His Care Hospice.
