

A loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a resident of Gonzales, she passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015 at the age of 72. She was born in Baton Rouge on September 8, 1942 to Joseph Kelly and Doris King Edmonston. Gloria had graduated from St. Gabriel High School in 1960 and in 2005 she retired from the Ascension Parish School Board as a secretary with 21 years of service.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Ray Long; 3 daughters and their spouses, Kellie and Michael Broussard, Sr., Shawn and Kevin King, and Miyona “Mimi” and Daryl Whitfield; 8 grandchildren and spouses, Ashlie and Chase Morales, Michael and Brittany Broussard, Christopher Broussard, Sr. and fiancé, Christy Gatlin, Cameron Broussard, Johnnie and Crystal Kelley, Jessie Kelley, Justin King and fiancé, Ashlyn Locke, and Madison Whitfield; and 8 great grandchildren, Jackson Morales, Emma, Trey, and Mason Broussard, Christopher Broussard, Jr., Landon and London Kelley, and Paislee King.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Verna Edmonston Haydel; father and mother in law, Jessie Ray and Barbara Ann Long; and a sister in law, Jessie Ann Long.
Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Tuesday, July 21 from 4 pm until 9 pm. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church from 10am until Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Interment will take place on Thursday in the church cemetery at 10 am.
Pallbearers will be Johnnie Kelley, Jessie Kelley, Justin King, Cameron Broussard, Michael Broussard, Sr., Kevin King, Daryl Whitfield, and Darwin Haydel.
Gloria’s honorary pallbearers will be Michael Broussard, Jr., Christopher Broussard, Sr., Rex Allen Long, Ken McLean III, Glenn Delafield, Donald Songy, Pam Reine and Donna Lanoux.
The family would like to thank New Century Hospice and the nursing staff of the 5th floor of Ochsner Medical Center for their care and support.
