

Harold Charles Sheets, joyous servant of God, loving husband, nurturing father, and faithful friend passed away Monday May 13, 2025, at his home in St. Amant surrounded by family. Harold was 79 years of age. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant.
Harold was happiest when spreading the Word of God and edifying his friends and family with the Spirit of Jesus. An instrument of the Lord, he was an “ordinary” man that God used to accomplish the Great Commission. “Lepo” was an avid outdoorsman that loved bass fishing and rabbit hunting. He was a graduate of Gonzales High School class of 1963. Following high school, he served 4 years in the Louisiana Army National Guard. Harold worked as a pipefitter and retired from Pipefitters Local Union Chapter 198.
He was best known for the work he did with the Catholic Charismatic movement in South Louisiana. He was an active participant in the Men of the Cross at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in St. Amant, a member of the Healing Team at St. Anthony of Padua in Luling, a member of the Men’s Prayer Group at St. Marks in Gonzales, a member and leader of the Family of Faith Prayer Group in Gonzales, and he held a leadership role in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Baton Rouge through the Baton Rouge diocese.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Edna Haydel Sheets, and three children, Yves J. Sheets, Renee S. Wilkerson, and Theresa S. McGaha (Joseph McGaha). Harold had 5 grandchildren: Grant (Londyn) and Mason (Angelina) Wilkerson, Maddie McGaha, and Teague and Isabella Sheets. He had two great grandchildren, Drake Wilkerson and Lane Coxe. He is survived by 5 siblings: Shirley Sheets Russel, Louise Sheets Donegan, Thomas “Tommy” Sheets, Gerald Sheets, and Brent Sheets.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; Donald M. Sheets and Herminie Marchand Sheets, both of Acy, and one brother Donald “Mike” Sheets.
Family and friends are invited to attend Harold’s visitation on Monday, May 19th, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Highway, Gonzales Louisiana 70737.
Visitation will continue at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 44450 LA-429, St. Amant, LA 70774 on Tuesday May 20th, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Matthew Lorrain at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Darrin Breaux and the Carpenters House Hospice Team; Jamie, Melissa, Sherry, and Susie for the care and compassion they showed Harold. “Well done my true and faithful servant…” Matthew 25:21
