

A lifelong resident of Gonzales, she passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at age 95. She was born May 4, 1916, to Louis Clement Dupuy and Myrtle James Dupuy. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gonzales. She worked in the nursery at the church for many years, Kean’s Laundry, worked in the lunch room at East Ascension High School, and would also baby sit. She is survived by her sons, Johnnie, Richard William, Freddie and wife Julie, and Able Hurst; sisters, Ruby Ory and Patricia Volentine; brothers, Shelton and James Dupuy; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Emmet Johnnie Hurst; three infant children; parents, Louis Clement Dupuy and Myrtle James Dupuy; stepmother, Kate Dixon Dupuy; a sister; two brothers; two daughters-in-law; and a grandson. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., followed by visitation at First Baptist Church of Gonzales from 1 p.m. until religious services at 2 p.m., officiated by the Rev.
